The Hill Haven, Saattal

The Homecast, New Delhi

GK residence by Mold Design Studio is a compact, yet comfortable design. The clients, both senior doctors, wanted a minimalist space, which could be close to their heart. The residence spans across two floors, basement and ground. They are designed to serve two different purposes- while the ground floor is made for personal use and smaller gatherings; the basement is designed for larger entertainment purposes. The ground floor consists of three bedrooms, drawing and dining spaces, a kitchen space, a powder room, and a puja room along with a study. The basement floor has a large entertainment space with a small pantry. Along with a personalized home theatre, the basement also has a study area which is directly accessible from the external for the patients to come visit the doctor at their residence.

The entire basement sits in the backdrop of a soft pattern brushed concrete finish wall, the light grey of which extends the light harmony of the space. Clubbed with the bar and separated from the dining area by way of furniture layout, the drawing establishes itself as an open space, providing complete visibility of the entire basement. Furniture in dark wood is used to complement the entire space. The concrete finish wall is further accentuated by a customized piece of wall art. This Lotus flower installation in mixed medium of copper and marble adds the glamour to the space.Though visually connected, the dining space isolates itself by the use of matte finish maroon chairs in stark contrast with the dining table having a glossy marble dine top. The two glass chandeliers hanging from above accelerate the regal tonality of the space, making it more opulent and aristocrat. The basement also has an in-house home theatre; accommodating six persons normally, this space can be opened out to allow an even more inclusive experience. The sliding folding doors open the theatre all the way, offering visibility from the dining and drawing rooms as well, enabling better entertainment during a house party or a game of cricket. The powder room in the basement has a duo-tone florescent cyan wall which is highlighted by the use of subtle Italian marble on the remaining walls. The black sanitary fixtures along with the deep wash basin and stunning drop mixer further add character. This opulence in design and selection of color palette naturally introduces a wow factor, embedding an appreciative viewpoint deep into the hearts of visitors.

The ground floor maintains a more private sense of space; the overall layout is simple with the drawing dining opening to the front balcony, the kitchen, powder room and the puja/study in the center and the two private bedrooms towards the rear. There is also a guest room facing the front. The bedrooms all maintain a predominant color theme to themselves, with one sporting a prominent light moss green palette. The master bedroom with glazy indigo curtains and sofas provide a secure and private space for the clients to unwind, and the minimalistic glass chandelier steals away the eyes to itself. All the bedrooms have attached dresser and bathrooms to ensure privacy and comfort. The dining space has a back unit in black lacquer and a brownish Italian table top with an interesting self-pattern.A central stunning glass chandelier enhances the aesthetic, and a simple white on grey wall mount relief artwork completes the cream-colored wall. The dining space connects to the ground floor private living room through a sliding folding horizontally spanning wall system which can be completely opened up to create a unified space. The ground floor drawing room is designed to be a bit more casual where the family members can spend quality time with each other. The space is vibrant and has a mix of pieces that the family had collected over the years.

The overall interior design maintains a streamlined tone; the use of minimal elements with splash of decorative items enhances the overall experience. Along with the interior uplift, complete automation systems have been enabled, helping the users to seamlessly control and coordinate sounds, lights, air conditioning services, curtains as well as appliances like television, cellular phones The design is minimalist, and aims solely in elevating the user experience to the best possible.
